Six handsomely-mounted spoofs of classic pulp/horror themes, all introduced by Coogan as the sinister Dr Terrible. The stories (in order) looked at vampires, Fu Manchu, mad scientists, nightmares coming true, a voodoo curse and witchcraft.

This was a mouth-watering prospect: the brilliant Coogan fronting a series of dark dash-and-dare adventures, but the end result didn't meet the high expectations. The host, a cross between a Donald Pleasence character and a Bond villain, failed to convince like other Coogan creations and the stories themselves failed to match the quality of similar spoofs like Ripping Yarns, The Comic Strip Presents... and Murder Most Horrid. Despite these drawbacks there was still some fun to be had for even a substandard Coogan effort has a plenty going for it.
